The NYC Move-In List (nycmoveinlist.com) is a free guide to what to buy and book when you move into a New York City apartment. This page explains what information the site collects and how it is used.
What we collect
- Your checklist progress stays on your device. When you tick items on the move-in checklist, that is saved in your own browser (local storage). It is never sent to us, and clearing your browser data erases it.
- Basic visit data. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and the time of the visit. We use this only in aggregate, to see which pages are useful and to keep the site secure.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep your email address and message so we can reply.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not ask you to create an account.
Affiliate links and cookies
Many links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something or request a quote, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. To credit the referral, the retailer or affiliate network (for example Amazon Associates and Impact) may place a cookie in your browser and record that you arrived from this site. Those companies handle that information under their own privacy policies.
Some partner banners load an image or tracking pixel from the partner’s servers, which lets the partner count how many times the banner was shown.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. See our Affiliate Disclosure for more.
Third-party sites
When you click through to a retailer, insurer, mover or other partner, you leave this site. Their privacy policies apply to anything you share with them, such as an order, a quote request or a booking.
Your choices
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking affiliate cookies will not stop the site from working; it only means a purchase may not be credited to us.
- You can clear your saved checklist at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
- To ask about or delete any information we hold about you (for example, an email you sent us), write to us at the address below.
Children
This site is meant for adults renting apartments and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
